Mudras are gestures of the hands which impart the expression of thought and emotion. They are considered symbols of inner resolve. Mudras suggest that non verbal communication is as equally powerful as the spoken word and are considered a seal of the moment.

These ideas suggest what my drawings are intended to convey. I consider drawing an act of powerful immediacy. Drawing is fluid and comes close to capturing a moment in time. The Mudra drawings use a variety of metal points, ,graphite and colored pencil. Over time the various metal point will oxidize. This transformation underscores the feeling of flux and movement that is important in my work. It also reminds us that not everything is within our control.
